Olde Wythe History
Olde Wythe Historic District
In 2007 the Olde Wythe neighborhood was added to the Virginia Landmarks Register. As one of the largest in the state, the district is made up of 2019 contributing homes and buildings and 272 non-contributing homes and buildings built in 1849 and between 1880 and 1953. The contributors are now eligible for city and state tax credits for qualified preservation or rehabilitation. Once the neighborhood is added to the National Register of Historic Places, which is pending, federal credits will also be available. For more information on the Olde Wythe historic district go to
